I have already bought a Stihl chain saw but I will be needing a pole saw as well. I wont be using it as much so I am considering buying a poulan from Lowes for about $170 instead of the comparable Stihl for $400. Will it hold up or should I just save my money and buy the Stihl? Thanks

Long ago, I saw some workmen cutting small limbs and branches which were higher up a tree than a ladder could reach. The tool they were using looked like a long chain with cutting teeth and leather handles at either end. The men threw the chain up and around the target limb, then simply pulled the device alternately between their two arms in a cutting motion.Does anyone know the name of this device, and where I can purchase one?

We want a DIY fencing project- We need to install about 25 feet of some kind of fence to divide our backyard as we are planting some grass for our kids and our dog digs everything up. He is an American Staffordshire Terrier (similar to a pit bull) so it has to be strong/tall enough for him but otherwise nothing fancy. If the answer is chain link, can you rent the tools that you need to install?

shotsofnature asked:

Ok, I finally found a nice piece of land on my property that I can put a garden in. I want to do a Vegetable Garden.

It’s up against my green chain link fence. The grass is dead in that area. It gets a lot of direct sunlight. It’s a pretty big area, longer than it is wide.

I’m looking to do tomatoes, peppers, peas, and a couple of other items. I want to do raised garden beds. I’m not the handiest person in the world and have limited tools.

What kind of wood should I use? Should it be treated? Does it have to be perfectly level? (I do have a level.)

I’ve got a green thumb but sometimes I’m all thumbs when it comes to being handy so the more basic the better. Any tips would be greatly appreciated?

Obviously I would construct it now (in the fall) and be ready to plant in the spring.

Thank-you
