I”m not sure what the problem is. The proper chain tool for your chain should do the trick. What kind of chain is it? Do you have the proper tool?
A Park chain removal tool should push the pin out to the proper length, then manipulate the chain to get it to beak free.

Yes, as the other guys have said, the chain pin removal tool is the right tool, and if you’ve got the right type it will push the pin out. Just make sure the tool is sitting correctly so that it’s not stopping the pin from coming out at the other side. Also, the pins are pretty tight, so you need quite a bit of force to push one out. Why don’t you try to get an old bit of chain to practice on? Perhaps the bike shop will give you an old one if you don’t have one. Lastly, remember when you push the pin out not to push it right out of the chain (you’ll never get it back in if you do, I promise you), but just far enough to break the chain. And when you push it back in to rejoin the chain, for which you use the same tool, you have to bend the chain quite firmly from side to side by hand to loosen the link, otherwise it’ll be too tight to bend around the sprockets.
