Roxel asked:

I certainly do. I mean, when I was younger, my favorite band was Queen. Then it changed to Led Zeppelin when I was like 13. Shortly after that, I started getting into Alice In Chains and other Alternative and Grudge bands.

Once, I got into Metal, my favorite band list started changing like crazy. These are my last five favorite bands in order…

Shadows Fall
Firewind
Nevermore
Tool
Between The Buried and Me (Current Favorite)

So do you have a long history of favorite bands?

  • GiantSpacePlatypus Pro-Rorschach says:

    Yes sorta.

Didn’t have my first “favorite band” until I was 11.

These first three became my favorites one after another for about 6 months.

    The Ramones
    Blondie
    The Doors

My love for them is still there but not nearly as strong, I went without a favorite band for about 2 years and then I found….

    Led Zeppelin
I still love zep, but eventually my favorite band became…

    Nirvana.

As of now it still is, I mean I have favorites… but Nirvana is my favorite. People have tried to get me into metal but I just get really turned off by the vocals. Plus I haven’t felt as strongly about a band before or after listening to Nirvana, I am fairly certain it will remain that way. However there is always room for more wondetful bands to add to my favoriteS. :)

  • martinsys says:

yep. started with Guns n Roses–>megadeth–>annihilator–>venom–>cradle of filth–>cathedral–>anathema–>arcturus

    Satriani,Vai….

  • aaron c says:

My list is always changing, But I always come back to Savatage and John Oliva’s other projects.

  • Silver * Rose ~ Wolf says:

    Nope.
This is why I have equal favourites ~ it takes a heck of a lot for a band or artist to make it onto that list, and currently there are a total of 10 {7 bands, 3 artists}.

    In no particular order :~
    Fleetwood Mac {1967 – }
    Jethro Tull
    Mike Oldfield
    Blackmore’s Night
    Old Blind Dogs
    Sandy Denny {including her work with bands}
    Capercaillie {incl. Karen Matheson solo}
    Dire Straits
    Led Zeppelin
    Stevie Nicks

The basic requirements are having either all of, or a majority of their music [and actually liking everything I have!], including live albums {and occasionally bootlegs}. But it’s not as simple as that. Each one has to have that extra ‘something’ that makes them stand out and be special, that keeps me coming back to them and leaving me begging for more.

After all, there are a couple of other bands where I have all / most of their albums, but they are just another part of my music collection, not a stand-out.

I will admit to a Guns N’ Roses obsession in my mid-teens, but despite trying to buy everything I could find, they just didn’t have that ‘something’ to make me call them ‘favourite’…

    NP : ‘Embryo’ ~ Delerium
Song change : ‘Grave Mentor’ ~ Delerium

  • mikey ✔ says:

My 1st was Nine Inch Nails
    2nd was Led Zeppelin
3rd was Job for a Cowboy
then I went back to Led Zeppelin
and now I’m back and forth between Tool and Opeth

So my fav band changes pretty often

  • Bored @ Work says:

Mine don’t tend to change much over the years

    Jane’s Addiction
    I Mother Earth
    Alice In Chains
    Rush
    The Doors
    The Cult
    Tool / APC
    Soundgarden
    The Tea Party

with a bit of Gn’R & Metallica thrown in

  • Mr. New England says:

metallica stayed with me since about ’87
    tool since ’93
    modest mouse since 03

–those are my 3 go-to bands

  • migh says:

my favourite band history goes like this…

buddy holly and the crickets (first tape i ever bought!)
guns n’ roses (‘appetite…’, second tape i ever bought!)
    the wildhearts
    ministry

  • ~Stabbing The Drama~ says:

I started with bands like Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, etc…..(I don’t feel like writing the bands I was into before that…lol..2 words good charlotte….ewwww….)
    Then I got into Disturbed
Then I got into Godsmack (still consider them one of my all time favorite bands)
Then came Pantera (still consider them one of my all time favorites, as well)
Then came Soilwork (which pretty much defines my taste now)
and other bands like Throwdown, Scar Symmetry, The Haunted, etc….
Then I also started getting into more sub-genres of metal, with bands from Hatebreed to Lamb of God to Machinemade God to Threat Signal
    Mostly like Melo-death

My currenct obsession is the band Dark Ages….I have already fallen in love with them……

    :)
