How can I get lube/grease off of my rims on my mountain bike?

turbine l asked:

I was cleaning the chain with citrus cleaner and a special park tools chain cleaner but some of the solution got onto my rims. When I finished up, I lubed my chain but some of it got onto the rims. (I cleaned off the brake pads using nail polish remover and it worked).

How can I get this lube off of my rims though?

Use a degreaser, Castrol super clean works great!

Simple Green, it won’t hurt the enviroment and is safe on hands.

    Wipe them with white spirit.

You can use the same thing to clean your rims that you used on your chain. It’s not a problem unless they are carbon. I’d stick to simple green. It is little less caustic and should take care of the residue.

OK dude, almost anything will work… dish soad, gas, brake cleaner, sos pads, all parts degreasers, starting fluid etc.
