How do you manually unlink a bike chain without using a special chain tool? What everyday tools do i need and how do i do it?

    Sorry, you need a chain tool unless the chain is made be Sram. It isn’t Sram unless it was already replaced.

    most chains have to be unlinked using the chain tool. you can buy a cheap one at walmart for $4.

    some chains do have a master link though. its gold and they slide into each other. you have to use needle nose pliers and squeeze the links together, the long way. its kinda hard to describe

    Can’t be done if you want to save the chain.

    Buy a chain splitting tool for under a tenner, then you will be able to take the chain off when ever you want and clean it properly and then replace it

    Put the bike on it’s side with the chain up and get a block of wood, a hammer and a nail. Tap on one of the link pins until it comes loose and tap it all the way through to the other side. You ruin the chain put you get it off the bike. That is what you wanted right?

    Get a SRAM chain. They come with a easy connector link.
