i did this on my 1999 zx9 r, and all these guys are right, its a BIG job . full engine dis assembly, the cam chain runs round your main shaft thats your gear shaft lots of gear sprockets on it (inside your bottom end) and all the way up through your top end and round your cam shaft (top end inside) your rocker cover or top engine cover, if you do this job your self be carefull to align the valves and lifters, cause if you get this wrong it will ride like a dented kettle, also you will need to remove the engine from the bike, so you will need stuff like an engine hoist, torque wrench, plenty o spanner and no doubt several specialist honda tools, which can be hard to source, hope this helps P.S. let a mechanic do it , its a pain.

Get the service manual, and check to see if there are any Special tools required ,because most model's now have special tools, so as to stop you doing it your self, anything on the motor i always took in to them to do, I did not want something to happen at 10,000rpm

DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS WORK WITHOUT A SERVICE MANUAL
Purchase a manual - read it - you decide whether you are capable of doing the work.
Don't forget the special tools needed - the manual will tell you what's needed.
