    “Ball and Chain” by Social Distortion. My favorite by a long shot, because it painfully describes the love-hate relationship of addiction.

    Edit: Good call on “Needle”, Ann. Definitely my favorite “third person” account of addiction.

    I don’t know if it fits the addiction genera, but it definitely is a good song about needing a chemical boost to keep performing.

    Life is Beautiful – Sixx A.M. about kicking addiction and Accidents Can Happen – Sixx A.M. about having a relapse…being a former addict, Nikki Sixx has truly inspired me and his lyrics hit really close to home for me…
