Would jeweller be willing to rethread my necklace?
I bought a string of gorgeous tiger’s eye stones in a market on holiday, but when I got them home and wore the necklace it broke and the stones went everywhere – on examination I realised the stones had been strung onto a thin bit of thread, which had frayed and snapped.
What I want to know is, would a jeweller’s or jewellery repair store be willing to put the stones onto a chain for me? The majority of the stones are still on the thread, which I have knotted back up – the rest are kept safe in a plastic bag. I would buy a chain and do it myself, but the holes in the stones are tiny (perhaps 1mm diameter) and I don’t have that kind of patience/dexterity/tools.
So? Do you think they would do it? Is this considered a repair, or a whole new piece of jewellery?

Try it yourself….. use fishing line! That works great…. strong and you cant see it! Good luck….. I think they would do something though it would cost you a pretty penny! When you can go to Michael’s art store and buy a jewelry kit and some fishing line and restring it yourself! It would only take a few minutes….. If you have any young girls in your family give her like five bucks to do, she would most likely love that! Have Fun and good luck!
